A pronoun is a word that substitutes for a noun.
The following paragraph contains at least one violation of each of the above rules. Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to spot and correct those errors. The answers will be found further down the page. No cheating and please don't bother telling me how well you did. Feel free to tell me if I fucked up.
The private asked the sergeant if he would be going home to see his family any time soon. After a minute of no response, he broke the silence. "You see what is going on lately. One should know what to expect." Of course, everyone knew what to expect: they should each have their body sent home in a bag. The soldiers just don't want to admit this to himself. This unit had little alternative as half their men were already dead. Just then, the private snapped. He ran off into the jungle screaming "Soon everyone will have their wooden kimono!" When a landmine exploded thirty second later, everyone knew who's death was at hand. He grumbled, "Its getting worse out here by the minute,". When he found his body that had not yet died, he mercifully put a bullet through his brain, one of the only parts which still functioned.
