To Whom-It-Should-But-Probably-Does-Not-Concern,
Find enclosed one flight voucher. I am disputing the charge with my credit card company.
Why? When I signed up at www.airtech.com, I filled in a four day date range (Monday 14
June 1999 to Thursday 18 June 1999) for travel. When I called (212)219-7000 on Wednesday 9
June 1999, this date range was ignored. During the course of the "discussion" that ensued, I was
asked where I should like to fly and once they were informed France, I was instructed that there was
a flight with "good" availability for yesterday Sunday 13 June 1999 and "poor" availability for
Wednesday 17 June 1999 and that if neither of these flights were good, I should call again next
Wednesday.
Despite Sunday being a day earlier than I wished to fly, I chose to report to JFK (a two hour
drive each way) at 5pm on 13 June 1999 as I had been advised to sign on for standby. Look
Voyage's representative does not show up until 6pm. At which time, "good availability" is
translated into "the flight is [only] OVERBOOKED by four people[!]" (emphasis mine). I was then
informed that it was unlikely I should get on, but nothing definate would be said until about an hour
before the flight. An hour before the flight, they still have nothing definite to see.
Fifteen minutes before the flight. Five people are indeed missing. Being top of the list, I
should be getting on. But what is this? Some people from the bottom of the list have choosen to
by standby seats directly from Look Voyage, giving them higher priority. Look Voyage now refuses
to accept my AirTech voucher.
If that is "good" availability, shall I try again for your "poor" availability on Wednesday?
I shall not waste my time. I am booking my flight elsewhere and returning your voucher. Have a
miserable day.
Sincerely,
Brian Matthew Kessler
